Book List

Today I am linking up at Kelly's Korner!  This is my reading list!
(or really just some of my favorite books!)

1. Sarah's Key

"Paris, July 1942: Sarah, a ten year-old girl, is brutally arrested with her family by the French police in the Vel’ d’Hiv’ roundup, but not before she locks her younger brother in a cupboard in the family's apartment, thinking that she will be back within a few hours.
Paris, May 2002: On Vel’ d’Hiv’s 60th anniversary, journalist Julia Jarmond is asked to write an article about this black day in France's past. Through her contemporary investigation, she stumbles onto a trail of long-hidden family secrets that connect her to Sarah. Julia finds herself compelled to retrace the girl's ordeal, from that terrible term in the Vel d'Hiv', to the camps, and beyond. As she probes into Sarah's past, she begins to question her own place in France, and to reevaluate her marriage and her life."

2. The Secret Life of Bees

"Living on a peach farm in South Carolina with her harsh, unyielding father, Lily Owens has shaped her entire life around one devastating, blurred memory - the afternoon her mother was killed, when Lily was four. Since then, her only real companion has been the fierce-hearted, and sometimes just fierce, black woman Rosaleen, who acts as her "stand-in mother."When Rosaleen insults three of the deepest racists in town, Lily knows it's time to spring them both free. They take off in the only direction Lily can think of, toward a town called Tiburon, South Carolina - a name she found on the back of a picture amid the few possessions left by her mother.
There they are taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters named May, June, and August. Lily thinks of them as the calendar sisters and enters their mesmerizing secret world of bees and honey, and of the Black Madonna who presides over this household of strong, wise women. Maternal loss and betrayal, guilt and forgiveness entwine in a story that leads Lily to the single thing her heart longs for most."

3. Flight of the Doves

"Desperate to escape their vicious uncle in London, orphans Finn and Derval Dove embark on a dangerous journey across England to Ireland. Lonely and scared, their only hope lies in reaching the Connemara cottage of their beloved grandmother. But for some reason their uncle offers a reward for their return and suddenly Finn and Derval find themselves at the centre of a nationwide search. Dogged every step of the way by people they don't know, who can the children trust...and how far will their uncle go to stop them reaching safety?"

I have tons more that I LOVE but these are my top three, for now....

This is my favorite from childhood...

Where the Red Fern Grows

"A loving threesome, they ranged the dark hills and river bottoms of Cherokee country. Old Dan had the brawn, Little Ann had the brains -- and Billy had the will to train them to be the finest hunting team in the valley. Glory and victory were coming to them, but sadness waited too. And close by was the strange and wonderful power that's only found...
An exciting tale of love and adventure you'll never forget."

WILW

Linking Up with Jamie again for What I'm Loving Wednesday.

This week I really need to remember the good stuff and remember that I really am very blessed in my life.  Just in the last two days I found out that a childhood friend of mine passed away Monday morning, most likely from a diabetic coma and yesterday my parents split up.

So.....

I am LOVING that I had the chance to know Crystal and that later today I will be going to the hospital where her sister, Laurie will be giving birth to her first little baby girl, Isabella Lynn.

Me and Laurie a few years ago

I am LOVING that I have an interview for a second job today!  I could really use the extra cash!

I am LOVING that I finished "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" last night and I have moved on to "A Year On Ladybug Farm" by Donna Ball.

I am LOVING that it was 83 degrees on Monday and that the temps are staying above 60 now!

I am LOVING that Josh and I have been going on lots of hikes lately!

I am LOVING that in this picture you can see my back and arm muscles!  This makes me feel like I am getting somewhere with my workouts!!!

and as always I am LOVING my Josh

Monday

I finished the book "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest" by Stieg Larrson!!!

I just started reading "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" by J.K. Rowling.  I need a short read after reading three 500-700 page books!

Also, it was 83 degrees here in MD today, so me and Josh went on a hike to both Kilgore Falls and The King and Queen Seat!

Kilgore Falls is Maryland's second highest vertical drop waterfall.

 I climbed up there, I am a beast ;)

Up at the King and Queen's seat in Rock State Park, I wrote about a previous visit in this post, where I shared some interesting facts about the King and Queen Seat.

Also, Mindy is the cutest :)

Gunpowder Falls

Josh and I took Mindy to Gunpowder Falls State Park yesterday for a walk...

On this hike, we passed over the Jericho Covered Bridge.  This bridge was built in 1865 and is 88ft long and 14.7ft wide. This bridge is supposedly haunted by both a little girl and an older woman.
