Three Things Thursday!!

1. WORK: For once, work actually made my day instead of breaking it.  Not really work but something that happened at work.  We started this biggest loser competition at work today since a lot of people want to lose weight.  10 people are participating, I am not one of them.  I only need to lose 5 more pounds, my main goal is toning right now.  However, when everyone was doing their weigh-in's today, I just hopped on the scale out of curiosity.  It turns out that I have lost another pound and a half!!! So I only have 3.5 more pounds to lose!!!

2. FITNESS: I had the best workout ever today!! OK, maybe not, but it was still good.  I ran for a full 35 minutes and went a little over 3 miles and burns a crap ton of calories. I also did this full upper body workout that was in one of my books, it felt great! Also, Josh and I are officially through the first week of the 200 Sit-Up Challenge and the 100 Push Up Challenge.  The Sit-Up Challenge is on my Day Zero list as well as Josh's! (Yes, I convinced him to make a list).  We are just doing the push-up one because we can!  Let me tell you, it is a great way to strengthen your abs! I could feel it after the first day!

3. SPRING??: The weather here is really bumming me out.  It's going to be April tomorrow and it's still in the 40's and 50's here!  By this time it is usually in the mid to upper 60's occasionally dipping into the 50's!  What is going on Maryland?  Right now, we are so not friends!  I can not wait for the spring weather to finally get here!

WILW

It's time for WILW!!! And I couldn't be happier.  I have been having a horrible week this week and I just need to remember all of the things that I have to love this week.  Be sure to link up with Jamie!!

I am LOVING my baby girl Mindy and my Pretty Kitty.  They are always happy to see me and always lift my mood!  Mindy always welcomes me home and is ready to play and cuddle as soon as I walk in the door!

I am LOVING working out regularly again.  I feel so much better and I have something to look forward to every day after work.

I am LOVING that I have started both the 200 sit up challenge and the 100 push up challenge.  By the end of 6 weeks, I should be able to do both, or at least come close.  My goal is to just do my best and push myself.

I am LOVING that my girls and I are planning monthly dinner nights for just us girls.  We have plans all the way till September! I am thrilled!  We don't get to see each other nearly as often as I'd like.

missing a few, but you get the picture

and as always, I am LOVING this guy

Marine Corps Museum

On Sunday, my friends Heather, Kristin and I went to the National Museum of the Marine Corps. in Triangle, Virginia.  This was on Kristin's Day Zero list and it also happened to be her birthday.  Since her husband, a marine, was deployed earlier this month, I figured this would be a great thing to cross off her list. It was a very cool museum and I learned A LOT.  They are adding 80,000 square feet on to the museum, so I am sure that we will be returning.

Kristin and Her John Bear outside of the museum

We started off in the section called "Making Marines".  This section takes you through the entire 13 weeks spent on Parris Island, starting with the arrival of the new recruits.   It all begins with the Sergent getting on the bus and yelling "Get your asses off my bus and stand on the yellow footprints on the pavement - NOW!

We got to try on this backpack which is the average weight of one a marine has to carry.  I had to use the poles to get up!!!

This is the first flag that was raised over Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by the Marines on June 10, 1898.

This was one of my favorite areas.  In this area, we learned about the battle at Belleau Wood.  This battle was the birth of the modern US Marine Corps.  This was a three week battle in which the US Marines were triumphant.  This was also where Marines suffered more casualties then in any other battle in US Marine history.

This is a de Havilland DH-4. This was designed Specifically for day bombing.

1917A1 Browning Machine Gun.

M3A1 Stuart Light Tank.  This tank was actually first tested at Aberdeen Proving Ground! This is about 10 minutes from my house!  This tank is manned by four people and is equipped with a 37mm gun and three .30 caliber machine guns!

This is an M4 Sherman Tank.  This is manned by a crew of 5 and is equipped with a 75mm gun, a .50 caliber machine gun and two .30 caliber light machine guns!  (P.S. I am completely fascinated by tanks!!)

This is my favorite battle to learn about.  The battle for Iwo Jima.

This is the M26 Perishing Tank.  This is equipped with a 90mm gun and .50 caliber and two .30 caliber machine guns.

This is all I have time to put up.  I learned a lot and I really enjoyed this museum.  I can not wait till they open the new wing!!!

Cooking and Gardening

When I was growing up my parents really never taught me basic stuff like laundry, cooking, gardening ect.  I have basically had to learn to do all of that on my own.  As I look at people's blogs I notice that a lot of people are cooking their way through a cookbook.  I think this is a great idea!! It gives you the opportunity to try new things and have fun!  I am a very picky eater and I am trying to start eating more foods.  But since I am picky, I picked up a cookbook called "Kid Favorites Made Healthy" by Better Homes and Gardens.  It has basic foods as well as foods I would usually turn my nose up at, so I though it would be a good start.  That and I'm not good at cooking so this would be an easy way to learn.  I will be posting a page with all the recipes on it and each time I complete one, I will link it to the blog post!

I have also always wanted to learn how to garden!  Lucky me, my boyfriend grew up on farms and worked on them throughout his life.  So, come mid-April he is going to teach me about plants and gardening.  We have plenty of room to grow stuff in our front and back yards.  I really want to learn how to grow strawberry's, and it looks like the old owners have it set up in the back already!!!  I am super excited!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Today I am doing Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   My most prized possession is .... hmmm, probably my photo albums or Mr. Bear, I got him when I was a newborn and I have had him ever since.  He is the only stuffed animal still on my bed.   I might also have to say my laptop, simply because all of my pictures from about 9th grade on are stored on there.

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be .... I don't really think I can give an answer to that.  I haven't yet been an age that I would want to be forever.  Give me until I get out of school, then I might be able to give an answer.

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is .... Out on the lake or doing something new with friends.  I love spending time with my friends and I absolutely LOVE the water.  Waterskiing is my favorite

4.  My outlook on life is .... That in general life is good, it'll throw some curve balls but a strong person will work through it and enjoy the life they have been given.

5.  If you want to annoy me, just .... Be either rude or disgusting.   I deal with both on a daily basis.  A lot of my customers are extremely rude because for whatever reason, they seem to believe that they are so much better than all of us that work at my place of employment.  It gets a little old, and usually I am just as rude back.  Also, when I have my facilities days, I see the things that people do in public bathrooms, and all I can say is, really??? Were you raised in a barn? Grow up.

6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to .... Sweets!!!! Especially anything chewy or sour (sour patch kids are a big offender!)  I loooooove them so much!  I try to take someone with me when I go grocery shopping just so that I don't buy these things! ANNND I don't take my wallet into work anymore because if I do I will buy sour patch kids or mike and ikes everyday.

7.  When dressing for the day one should ... feel comfortable in what they are wearing.  Weather its sweats or a sundress, you should always feel good about yourself.  I personally always try to choose something functional (except when going to work, I have to wear what they tell me).

Three Things Thursday!

1. I am thinking about doing the 6 month program for school instead of the one year program.  I am currently very unhappy with my job and I would really like to just be done with school and onto a career.  Plus if I do the one year program, I have to commit to EVERY single Saturday for a year!! That is INSANE.

2. I am almost finished with my book!!! It is taking a while for me to read because I have been really busy annnnd it is over 700 pages.  So far, it is a really good book and I cant wait to find out how it ends and to start on the third and final book of the series!

3.  My favorite boyfriend ever is making spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner tonight and he just told me that it is finished, so this is going to be my third thing! :)
