30 Day Challenge - Day 12

#12 - What You Believe

I Believe that 2011 will be a great year!! Happy New Year's Eve!!!

ANNNND .... A DAY ZERO UPDATE:

#39 - I finished the book "The Recipe Club" on 12/30/10

I loved this book!  It is a very unique story with some great twist and turns throughout it.  It is written in the form of letters and is considered a novel cookbook!  That means that there is a recipe printed every couple of pages or so!  I can not wait to try some of them.

The book I started today is "The Client" by John Grisham

 Sex and the City

Full House

and 7th Heaven

Day Zero Update :)

#5 - 12/28/2010 - I saw Tron Legacy in IMax 3D.  I looooove IMax but I am not a fan of 3D and was very disappointed in the movie.
#71 -  I now have seasons 1-6 of  house (got 3,5 and 6 for Christmas) and have watched seasons 1-4! I am currently watching season 5! I love this show :)
#100 - Josh bought me a tennis racket for Christmas!  Now I just need to get him one so we can play :)

#39 On 12/26/10 I finished the book "If You Could See Me Now" by Cecelia Ahern.  It was a very cute book and an easy read.  My only issue was that she was very repetitive, I felt like I read the same line about Elizabeth's personality about 15 times.  This book is different from anything I've read before, which I really liked.  The characters were well developed and the story kept me interested.

Now I am reading a book called "The Recipe Club" by Andrea Israel and Nancy Garfinkel

I am actually about halfway through this book right now and I love it!   It is written in the form of letters, which I love because I like short chapters (easier to read on break at work) and It has a recipe with almost every letter!  I plan on trying a few of these for my Day Zero list.

30 Day Challenge - Day 10

#10 - Something You're Afraid Of

These are a few things I am afraid of:

 Getting Fat
Spiders
Snakes
(I can't even put pics of them up because it will freak me out)
Failure
and Small Places

30 Day Challenge - Day 9

#9 - A Picture of your friends

This is a pretty good mix of my friends, I tried to get everyone, not sure if I did but I tried ... and I look like a man in the last picture, but that was a great night of sledding!

30 Day Challenge - Day 8

Day 8 - A place you've visited

I have visited many places; my list of countries includes: France, Spain, Italy, Monaco, Germany, Canada, El Salvador and Costa Rica.  I had loads of fun in each country but my favorite country was Costa Rica, by a long shot.  It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life! It is exotic and colorful and full of interesting animals and plants that we just don't get to see on a regular basis here in the states.  (Unless, of course you go to a zoo)

This is a few of us with some of the kids at a local school in San Vito, near the Biological station that we were volunteering at.  These kids were so much fun, and so energetic!

This is a few of us before doing a canopy tour in Manuel Antonio National Park.  I would highly recommend doing a canopy tour!  It was an incredible experience!

This is the beach at Manuel Antonio at Sunset

Me and Ashley climbing inside a Strangler Fig Tree.  This is by far the coolest tree I have ever seen! And I've seen the redwoods!

This is an Agouti!  An animal we saw on a daily basis at the Las Cruces Biological Station.

This is where we stayed while at the Biological Station.

Yes, that is a bat!  We go to go out into the rainforest at night and hang out with some Yale grad students and learn how they kept inventory of the different species of bat that came into the area!  This bat was a new species to the area!

This was the most exciting sighting for all of us! A Tucan!!! It took forever for us to get a picture of one!

The Beach at Manuel Antonio during the day.

Last but not least, this is the incredible view we got to see every morning when we ate breakfast and everynight at dinner!  So incredible!

I took this trip in march of 2009 as part of the alternative spring break program at JMU where I went to college.  We volunteered in San Vito at Las Cruces Biological Station.  We did plant inventory, Agouti inventory, cleanup and volunteered for 2 mornings at a local elementary school.  We went on some really neat hikes in the rainforest and we got to check out some pretty cool bats.  Our first day there we got a tour of the place and learned about hundreds of different exotic plantlife and animals that grew at the station!  On our very last day in Costa Rica, we visited Manuel Antonio National Park.  On this day, we went on a canopy tour, we went to the beach and we went to a local dance club, which the canopy tour guides told us about.  It was a great experience!  Costa Rica is one place I plan on returning to in the near future!

30 Day Challenge - Day 7

#7 - Favorite Movies!

I am a huge movie fan! Between me and Josh we probably have every movie known to man in our collection.  Some (not all) of my favorites include:

A Walk to Remember
Rent
Flags of Our Fathers
We Were Soldiers
The Hurt Locker
Under the Tuscan Sun
The Sound of Music
Driving Miss Daisy
The Blindside
Pretty Woman
Beauty and the Beast
Taken
Hitch
Inception
The Interpreter
The Hangover
Blackhawk Down
The Town
Tangled
Aladdin
The Holiday
Casablanca
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Fast and The Furious
Fight Club
Boondock Saints
Harry Potter Series
Chicago
I am Sam
Ferris Buellers Day Off
The Wizard of Oz
Wall-E
The Dark Knight
Top Gun
An Officer and a Genlteman
Fame
Step-Up

....These are just a few of my favorites.  It would be hard for me to really narrow down my favorites.  I like a huge variety of movies from romatic to comedy to action.  The only genre I don't really care for is horror.  I can deal if it is not realistic, but once it becomes realistic, I'm out.  But basically, I am a HUGE movie/theatre fan :)

30 Day Challenge - Day 5

#5 - Your Siblings

I have two siblings, both younger.  There is a 5 year difference between each of us (yeah my parents are insane)
My sister, Amy is 16 years old and is usually an annoying pain in my butt.  We used to fight 24/7 and pretty much hated the sight of each other for a long time, but as we've gotten older, we've started to get along a lot better.  Amy is a very eccentric person.  She always has everyone around her laughing their booty's off.  She is also very witty and smart, I just wish that she could see that.  Amy LOVES cheerleading!  She cheered for a rec. team when she was younger and started coaching when she turned 15.  She is a junior this year and I can't believe my little sister will be graduating next year!

Jason is my little brother and he is 11 years old.  When he was about 3 years old, he was diagnosed with Autism.  He likes to keep to himself and play legos.  Trains are his absolute favorite things in the world; he says he is going to be a train builder when he gets older!  Jason is also an incredible artist!  At 6 years old he could draw better then I could.  Jason is probably my favorite person in the whole world. He is the happiest little kid I have ever met.

This is Jason in his boyscouts shirt!
(My parents found a boyscout troop in the area that is just for kids with special needs! Jason LOVES it!  They do crafts and go on camping trips and a lot of other fun things!  The troop leader is a saint!)

30 Day Challenge - Day 4

#4 - Your Parents

This will be a short one because I really don't know what to say on this subject.
My mom and I get along pretty well for the most part.  We have our moments but I know I can always talk to her about anything.  I am a replica of my mother as far as looks go.    My Dad and I have a pretty rocky relationship.  I have his stubborness and his ability to "tell it like it is" and not take bullshit.

Pretty much all I have to offer on that subject.  This will probably be my shortest post ever.

30 Day Challenge - Day 3

#3 - Your first love

Well, I guess technically he's not my first love, I have loved other guys before, but it doesn't even come close to how I feel about this guy here:

He's the first guy who I have not wanted to spend a minute apart from.  He tries his hardest to make me happy and is always making me laugh :) He tells me how much he loves me 1083947382190 times a day and always tells me how beautiful he thinks I am (he's a good liar ;) ). We have so much in common and never run out of things to talk about, we can have fun doing something as simple as chillin' out on the couch, we always end up cracking up!  I could go on about him for hours, so I'll stop here.  He is by far the best boyfriend I have ever had and the last one I ever want to have.
I love you Josh :)
This is where we were when he asked me out :) In Susquehanna State Park (Yes, I am a loser and took a picture) P.S. It is fitting that writing about him would fall on the 22nd, because that is our anniversary :)
This is us in New Jersey, where he used to live

30 Day Challenge - Day 2

#2 - Meaning behind your blog name

The name of my blog comes from the Broadway rock opera, Rent.  It is my favorite song in the Musical and it talks about living every day as if it is your last day, because you never know when it will be.  I thought it was an appropriate name for a blog at which I would be keeping track of goals and accomplishments.  This phrase "No day but today" really became close to my heart and more meaningful to me on July 11th, 2009, the day we tragically lost a great friend, Brent to a motorcycle accident.  You never know what day could be your last, so don't worry about any day but today.

In Loving Memory of Brent M Hall 1989-2009

"There Is No Future
There Is No Past

I Live This Moment
As My Last

There's Only Us
There's Only This
Forget Regret
Or Life Is Yours To Miss
No Other Road
No Other Way
No Day But Today"

#39 - If You Could See Me Now

I finished reading the book "P.S. I Love You"!! I absolutley loved it! It was a great story and one that anyone who has lost someone is able to relate to even if the relationship was not the same as that of the main characters. I would strongly recommend this book.

The next book I will be reading is called "If You Could See Me Now." It is by the same author, Cecelia Ahern. My sister checked it out from the library and hasn't started it yet, so I'm reading it now :)
